Wants Me For A Sunbeam è la prima cover dell'unplugged. Cobain introdusse il
brano come "un'interpretazione di un'antica canzone cristiana". Ed è proprio da
un antico inno cristiano che Eugene Kelly e Francis McKee dei Vaselines avevano
creato questa canzone, dai toni pacati ed avvolgenti.
L'interpretazione dei Nirvana in versione unplugged non è molto diversa da
quella dei Vaselines. Durante altri concerti, tuttavia, la band ha proposto
spesso versioni "elettriche" del brano, dal carattere fortemente rock.
Il titolo
esatto della canzone è quello da noi riportato (Jesus Wants Me For A Sunbeam),
che figura anche in un disco dei Vaselines. Su un altro loro disco, come sull'MTV
Unplugged In New York, viene riportato erroneamente il titolo Jesus
Doesn't Want Me For A Sunbeam.
